Information about Project
„Demography and cultural identities of Truso valley population“ – the project is being implemented with the financial support of the Shota Rustaveli National Scientific Foundation of Georgia (FR-19-7379)
The Ossetians who settled in the Truso Valley, in turn, adopted a number of Georgian cultural traditions, as evidenced by synthetic architecture, ritual rules, oral samples, etc. Thus, the Truso Valley with its historical past, socio-economic and political significance, population existence, development of material or spiritual culture is a fairly rich and varied Valley.
The aim of the project is to study the spiritual and material cultural monuments preserved in the Truso Valley in XVIII-XXI centuries, based on historical sources, archival documents, scientific literature and materials of field expeditions and carry out their registration. In particular, the project provides for a comprehensive study of the ethno cultural and political history of the population of the Truso Valley in the following areas: historical and geographical; Demographic (national, social and religious composition of the population, gender and age structure); Migration processes; Intangible culture (traditional and modern family life, agricultural field, beliefs and rituals) and tangible cultural monuments (architecture, purpose, layout, number, current state, etc.).
